Home: Rye, NH
Occupation: Pharmacist - Supervisor at UNH Health and Wellness Center
What bike(s) are you riding? 1) Felt VRW (Variable women road Bike) 2) Raleigh Roker gravel bike for NH rail trails 3) Raleigh-Superbe 7 speed in town cruiser bike for running errands.
Favorite Bike Route: Burlington, VT causeway over Lake Champlain. NH rail trails are also a passion of mine. There are no cars and being close to nature is such a priority for me.
Favorite Events over the years: I love the Seacoast Century - great ride in our home town. The trek across Maine has been a favorite. Seattle to Portland (STP) was my biggest challenge to date and one of the most fun! The Eastern Provinces of Canada and Le P’tit train du Nord.
Favorite Bike Gadget: I love the Garmin. I don’t use all of the data. I am “low-tech” but I do love that I can move it from bike to bike and still get the speed and distance measurements. I use apps on my phone to track my daily milage while training for centuries.
Helpful hint for other women bicyclists: Join a riding group and gather with friends to ride. Many shops have local rides. You will learn so much and see new places to ride. Don’t be afraid just step out there. Riding is such a social sport. It can be as low key or as competitive as you’d like it to be.
Why I ride: Riding makes me feel great! I love the exercise that it gives me, but more than ever…my social life is on a bike. Most of my friends ride. My husband and I love to go on bike tours and lead bike tours. I also love learning about a new area on the bike. It is faster than walking and it is slower than a car.
