Name:   Lisa Couture

Home: Eliot, ME

Occupation:  Executive Director at Krempels Center

What bike (s) are you riding:  I have no idea, beyond it being an entry-level Specialized road bike, but what I can say is that it feels like a great fit and I feel like Super Woman on it.

Favorite bike route: This is going to sound bizarre, but I love my bike commute home.  Is it weird that I like riding in commute traffic?  But the best part is the super quiet section turning off of Sagamore Rd in Rye onto 1A toward the Wentworth Hotel and Newcastle, and the awesome sound of just me and my pedaling noises bouncing off the houses as I maneuver through Newcastle proper, and then kicking it up a notch as I ride over the Memorial bridge into Kittery. (Cuz, Strava segment.)

Most prized bike accessory: My padded butt, on my bike shorts.  They are just a black EMS short, but they’ve got great padding, and the padding is fluorescent yellow on the inside, which is hilarious.

Helpful hint for other women bicyclists: I have found the women’s cycling community to be as awesome as the women’s hiking community…always happy to help with advice and encouragement!  Ask lots of questions!!

Why you bicycle: Endorphins, baby!

Lisa also loves to hike! She is working on her 4,000 footers.
