The Engine Inside |Documentary

Updated: Oct 8, 2023

On Fri, Nov 3rd, from 6-9pm, SABR will host one of the first screenings of “The Engine Inside” north of Boston since the film was released this past summer. The Engine Inside follows six everyday people from all over the globe who reveal the unique power of the bicycle to change lives and build a better world. Through their stories, the film uncovers the often-overlooked potential of this 200-year-old machine, exploring its impact on a wide range of global issues such as physical and mental health, socioeconomic inequality and climate change. By shining a light on people who have embraced cycling as a way to overcome daunting personal and systemic challenges, The Engine Inside ultimately asks viewers to reconsider their own perspective. Is there a transformative power within us all that can be unlocked through the simple act of riding a bike?

The Engine Inside shows that biking is more than just a way to get around - it's also a powerful tool for creating positive change in the world. Join the movement and become committed to promoting biking as a means of creating positive change in the world. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or just getting started, you can use your love of biking to make a difference in your community and beyond.

On average, over half of the trips taken in cars are under 3 miles. By cycling just one of these daily trips, we could reduce carbon emissions by 67% and help slow global warming, reduce natural disasters and protect biodiversity. Reducing vehicle emissions also improves air quality and reduces noise pollution.

Riding a bike improves your overall physical health and longevity. Cycling just 20 miles a week is proven to lower your risk of heart disease, build muscle, stimulate and improve your heart and lungs, improve sleep, boost energy and increase stamina and endurance. Everyone has the right to a healthy body, and cycling is improving the health of groups all over the globe.

Whatever your reasons for riding a bicycle, Seacoast Area Bike Riders welcomes you to join their community of pedal pushers and e-bikers to celebrate the best of autumn with three fun and sure to be fulfilling events!
